LOGO GRAPHICS GLOBAL EXPERIMENTATION GROUP by Josh Nimoy, Oct 2004 CONCEPT This logo is meant to communicate a strong, stable, well rounded, intelligent non-profit organization whose goals are to bring people together from all over the world in order to participate in collaborative experimentation for art, among other things. The orange colors are fruitful and intellectual - each one representing the individuality of Global Experimentation Group's participating members. The crescent gray is the Earth, rounded and shadowed by the sun - represented as a spatial figure in the logo so that we may never forget that the world is not flat, but round. The same conceptual contrary nature goes into the fundamental motivations of Global Experimentation Group, a group which seeks to heal previously observed methods of non-profit organization. The crescent sits at an angle, forming a suggestive letter G. The orange individual spots inside the Earth form an ambiguous hybrid between the letter G and the letter E, as in 'G'lobal, 'E'xperimental, and 'G'roup. This hybrid letterform made of dots implies the interdisciplinary nature of the gegroup. LOGO VARIATIONS justlogo: JUST the logo, without the typographic title next to it. centerpiece: for use where the logo is front and center. letterhead: for use at the top of letters, websites, and emails COLOR VARIATIONS 1color: black ink only 2color: gray + one orange grayscale: varying degrees of gray fullcolor: many oranges, many grays FONT INSTRUCTIONS A font has been created in case the user of the logo does not have Photoshop or Illustrator. From any text editing software, one can simply hit a key and resize the character accordingly on the page. When using the font, the graphics will always print onto paper as crisp as an illustrator graphic because a font file is vector-based (not pixel-based). The font file contains only three typable characters: '1' - centerpiece logo '2' - letterhead logo '3' - just the logo installation: on a PC, drag the file into c:\windows\fonts on a Mac, double click the font file and press "install"
